Future Geelong
The Committee for Geelong has launched their ‘Future Geelong’ Maptivate map — envisioned as the blueprint for the city’s growth and development paths. The map captures the prospectus for the transformative changes necessary to support a thriving and resilient Geelong city region at a population of 1 million people.
Maptivate enabled CfG to merge a range of existing projects, approved urban concepts, and ambitious future plans with instructive case studies, providing an expansive projection of what Geelong might become.This really is a new way to present complex strategy to engage stakeholders and the community. Within a few days of being launched, the map has had almost 4,000 page views, with overwhelmingly positive feedback.
Committee for Geelong CEO Michael Johnston said that the map represents the culmination of the Committee’s extensive planning and visioning efforts.
“The big ideas, the city-shaping projects are well-known, we have captured this in the ‘Future Geelong Map’ – a platform that brings all these ideas together.”
Mr Johnston highlighted the map’s utility as a regional discussion piece for collaboration with government, private enterprise, and the broader community. “A key benefit of Future Geelong is it has synthesised the many strategies, plans and frameworks to coalesce these ideas and visions into a single reference point. It is the perfect platform to generate a discussion amongst the community, businesses and with all levels of Government.”
